Dear Eagle Hill School Community:
As many of you know, the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, and his wife, Priscilla Chan, recently wrote a letter to their newborn daughter, Max, that was posted and shared widely on social media. The thrust of the letter is that Mr. Zuckerberg and Dr. Chan are going to give away 99% of their Facebook shares ($45 billion at the time of the letter) to make the world a better place.
One particular focus of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is to create Internet-based personalized learning tools to provide greater and better access to education around the world. So, as a school that has spent nearly a half-century trying to perfect what it means to provide personalized and customized education, we feel compelled to respond to Mr. Zuckerberg and Dr. Chan’s letter in light of their specific request to work with the strongest leaders in education.
Below is a link to a letter from the EHS faculty and members of the EHS student council. If you are so inclined, we ask that you “share” this post on your respective Facebook and Twitter accounts (or simply forward this link to friends and colleagues) in the hopes that this letter eventually makes its way to Mr. Zuckerberg and Dr. Chan.
Thank you in advance for your help, and may 2016 bring us one day closer to the time when every child in the world has access to personalized learning.
