About

As a Cook, you will have a significant responsibility in kitchen operations, reporting to the Director of Food Services.  The kitchen is responsible for preparing and serving three meals per day to all students and staff.  Job specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce and serve high quality scratch meals in large volume
  • Follow recipes, procedures, and adhere to special dietary requirements
  • Have a “can do” attitude, offering ideas, suggestions, and assistance, however possible
  • Have an energetic personality with a strong desire to provide a positive dining experience
  • Ensure food quality and safety is adhered to
  • Monitor cleanliness of the kitchen and maintain a safe work environment
  • Provide dining/catering for on campus functions/events throughout the year
  • Supervise kitchen staff when the Director of Food Services is not present

Schedule

  • Year round, full time schedule
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, including occasional events
  • Extended hours required on an as needed basis

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience with similar responsibilities
  • Operational knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment (dishwasher, ovens, mixers, etc.)
  • Self motivated and able to work independently
  • Energetic and respectful personality that can work with a team of diverse employees and skillsets
  • Effective communication skills and capable of delivering exceptional customer service
  • Strong time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
  • Some supervisory experience preferred
  • Successful criminal background check and pre-employment screening
  • Adaptable to a variety of work environments, with the ability to remain calm, positive, and professional in all situations

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Position frequently involves long hours and widely diverse duties
  • Must be able to lift approximately 30-50 pounds
  • Bend, kneel, push, pull, and other physical exertion
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Work in a hot and damp environment with moderate to high noise volumes
