John is Managing Director of Merrill Lynch (now Bank of America) where he has held various senior management responsibilities for 30 years. Prior to that time, John was CEO & Board Member of Community Bankshares of VA.
Additionally, John's passion is in his involvement with executive management consulting as well as executive coaching as a principal in 49Octave. John holds an undergraduate degree from University of Richmond, Graduate studies at University of Virginia in finance, and graduate studies at University of Pennsylvania-Wharton from their Executive Leadership School. He has spoken at numerous national venues on the subjects of Leadership, Commitment, and Community.
John is a past co-chair of the EHS Parent Advisory Board, is a board member of Peninsula Community Properties in DE, and Virginia Farm Properties in VA. Previously, John has held board positions with US Chamber of Commerce, VA Chamber of Commerce, Board of Shakespeare Sedona, Phoenix Art Museum, Tucson Symphony, and Arizona Theatre. John has been the recipient as one of 5 outstanding executives in the US and the Outstanding Young Man in VA on 3 separate occasions. Additionally, John has chaired various national and state wide election campaigns over the last 38 years encompassing both major political parties.
John and Susan's son, Matt, graduate of EHS having been at EHS for 6 years graduated from McDaniel College in May, ’15 and is employed by Disney. Matt has 2 brothers, Scott (21) who is Junior at UCLA (aerospace engineering), and Mark (19) who is sophomore at Swarthmore College (engineering).
