Ronald M. Baglio Sports and Fitness Center

Eagle Hill School’s spectacular 62,000-square-foot athletic facility, the Ronald M. Baglio Sports and Fitness Center, features such amenities as a competition basketball court, and two courts with abutting synthetic floors to allow for indoor tennis, batting cages, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. during the winter months, as well as a running track, wrestling room, dance studio, cardiovascular center, squash pavilion, TrackMan golf simulator, competition swimming pool, rock-climbing wall, four team rooms, and five locker rooms.

Thanks to a partnership with Dr. John Ratey, author of Spark and professor at Harvard Medical School, Eagle Hill spent two years designing, building, and developing a program that enables—inspires even—every EHS student, faculty, and community member to engage in physical activity.

Mounting evidence shows that rigorous exercise and proper nutrition prepares the brain to learn, improves mood and attention, lowers stress and anxiety, fights obesity, moderates the effects of hormonal change, and improves self-esteem and self-worth.

Dedicated in honor of Ronald M. Baglio, who served as Eagle Hill School’s assistant headmaster for student life for eighteen years, the Sports and Fitness Center is a modern training and fitness facility that allows the EHS community to fully explore and embrace a model of lifelong wellness.

Athletic Facility Features

Gymnasium

Gymnasium

With one hardwood and two multisport surface courts, the gymnasium is always bustling with activity. Basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, floor hockey, and more keep students entertained and active. The multi-court setup allows for numerous events to be held simultaneously. Whether it’s during a game, practice, or free time, the gymnasium is always among the busiest spots on campus.

Mack Jones - Running Track

Mack-Jones Running Track

The track encircles the entire gymnasium. Providing a weatherproof option for running or walking, and an alternative to a treadmill, it’s a great place to get moving while enjoying the sights of the action on the courts below. This space is used daily by faculty and students alike.

Personal Training

Personal Training

Eagle Hill offers on-site personal trainers for hire. These fitness professionals work to educate and motivate students no matter where they are in their fitness journeys. Many student-athletes will work with trainers for advanced performance improvement, and many more students (and faculty!) utilize their services as an educational resource, as when they start working out. Above anything else, their focus is on safety, repeatability, and fun.

Zee Family Fitness Center

Zee Family Fitness Center

The fitness center belies the size of Eagle Hill. All too often we hear the compliment of “This is nicer than XYZ college”. We’re inclined to believe that, in many cases, that’s true! With top-of-the-line free-weight, machine, and compound equipment as well as myriad cardiovascular offerings, this facility truly has something for everyone. It’s not uncommon to see faculty and students exercising alongside one another in this space, or working together.

Athletic Training

Athletic Training

Enhanced with top of the line equipment, our student-athletes, with the help of our athletic trainer are able to rehabilitate injuries and stay off the sidelines like the pros! Whirlpool tubs, heavy heat therapy, and extensive resources keep our teams in top shape each season.

Pioneer Field

Pioneer Field

Just a short, scenic walk from the Eagle Hill campus, Pioneer Field offers several athletic fields for EHS programs to play and practice on. Adjacent are four EHS tennis courts, home of the EHS tennis program. With plenty of room for parking and spectating, Pioneer Field allows for many of our varsity and sub-varsity programs to practice concurrently, instead of each program having to wait for a space to be available. A well-kept, natural surface, Pioneer Field gives each of our athletes an opportunity to enhance their game in a high-quality space.

Pioneer Field is home to several fun campus events, most notably the senior bonfire held each spring.

Jordan Field

Jordan Field

A modern turf athletic field, Jordan Field is used for lacrosse, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee.

Sited next to the Baglio Sports and Fitness Center with full locker room facilities, it helps our athletes enjoy a true home-field advantage.

St. Jean Family Squash Pavilion

St. Jean Family Squash Pavilion

Eagle Hill’s two squash courts house our varsity squash team’s matches and countless intramural/friendly competitions. There is also a standing contest with our head of school PJ McDonald who will gladly play any student (and sometimes two at once) with a dress down day awarded if he is defeated!

Swimming Pool

Swimming Pool

Our Olympic-sized swimming pool plays host to varsity and junior varsity swim meets, and intramural swim and exercise, as well as lifeguard training, swim lessons, and more. With abundant spectator seating, it is often the most raucous of our athletic venues. Open year-round and with certified lifeguards always on duty, the pool is a central part of our fitness regimen.

The Andresen Golf Simulator

The Andresen Family Golf Simulator

The simulator is a state-of-the-art Trackman unit creating year-round golf for the students, faculty, and staff. Combining stunning virtual reality with radar, video instruction, and detailed feedback, this space allows golfers the chance to work on their skills all year rounda rarity in New England

Hoyt Family Climbing Wall

Hoyt Family Climbing Wall

A unique feature in the Baglio Center, the Hoyt climbing wall is a truly world-class indoor climbing room. This set-up was created to offer challenging routes for the experienced climber and also offer introductory stages for those students new to climbing. All of this is offered with full safety accommodations and protective equipment.

Timken Multipurpose Room

Timken Multipurpose Room

Zumba, yoga, dance, spin, and more...that’s what you can find on any given day in the multipurpose room. The resilient flooring, great natural light, and view of both the valley below and adjacent pool makes this room a perfect setting for any number of activities.
