Meet the Admission Office

Dana Harbert, Director of Admission

Dana has served as the Director of Admission since 2004. He began his career at EHS in 1984 as a teacher of reading and writing. He earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut in 1978 and a Masters Degree as a consulting teacher of reading from Westfield State College in 1991. Dana served as the Chair of the EHS Reading Department and as the Assistant Director of Education for many years prior to his assuming the role of Director of Admission.

Dana is a Fellow in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, an honor that affords him the opportunity to train and supervise teachers in the Orton-Gillingham approach. His thirty years of experience at Eagle Hill School, combined with his expertise in the area of reading, make Dana uniquely qualified to serve in this most important administrative role. Outside of admission Dana is an Academic Advisor.

Gale Young, Associate Director of International Admission

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a BM, Gale Young taught music in the Northampton and Wilbraham School Districts. She pursued her Master’s in Music, performed in local operettas and, while teaching in Wilbraham, she obtained 30 credits past her Master’s in reading.

Gale began coaching private voice students at Eagle Hill as well as at Wachusett Regional High School. Realizing what an amazing school Eagle Hill is, she was very interested in becoming more involved with the Eagle Hill School Community and accepted the Associate Director of Admission position.

Gale brings many organizational, marketing and communication skills to the Admission Office but what she especially enjoys is the opportunity to spend time with the students being the advisor for the "Puppy Club" and having them to her home on weekends to relax, bake cookies and make dinner.

Sue Cranford, Associate Director of Admission

Sue is a 25-year veteran of independent schools, beginning her career as English teacher, coach, and dorm head at St. Mark's School and later working at Noble and Greenough School and Applewild School.  For the last 15 years, Sue has worked at Bancroft School, first as an English teacher and Dean of Students, then as an admission officer and most recently as Director of Admission and Financial Aid.

Sue earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the University of Vermont and her Master of Education from Boston University.  She lives in Princeton, Ma with her husband and two daughters, along with their two Tibetan Terriers and their horse Valerie!  She is excited to be part of the Eagle Hill School community and to continue her passion for working with students and their families.
