Welcome Chef Lee to Eagle Hill School!
Get ready for fresh, flavorful, and irresistibly appetizing meals at the Dining Commons.
Eagle Hill School is thrilled to introduce Chef Lee as our new head chef and director of dining services. With a rich culinary background and a passion for creating delicious, nutritious meals, Chef Lee has quickly enhanced the dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Chef Lee’s journey into the culinary arts began at an early age, inspired by the vibrant cooking traditions of his family and by watching a local pizza chef skillfully toss dough. He started washing dishes at 15 and quickly moved through the ranks, honing his skills in various kitchens before pursuing formal training at the Connecticut Culinary Institute. This experience sharpened his skills and deepened his understanding of food.
With over 30 years in the industry, Chef Lee has traveled extensively, absorbing diverse culinary techniques and flavors. While he enjoys cooking Italian dishes, he believes in the beauty of variety and aims to introduce students to a wide range of dining experiences. His cooking philosophy centers on freshness and engaging all the senses: The perfect dish is about more than taste; it should look appealing, smell amazing, feel delightful to eat, and even sound appetizing, like the sizzle of a hot skillet.
“Food brings people together. If we create meals that students look forward to, food and dining become a part of the strong sense of community here.”
After years in high-pressure roles in the restaurant industry, he was ready for a change and was drawn to Eagle Hill School. He’s excited to bring fresh, nutritious meals to our students while fostering a sense of community through food. “Food brings people together. If we create meals that students look forward to, food and dining become a part of the strong sense of community here,” he emphasizes.
Chef Lee plans to introduce cooking clubs to inspire students to appreciate food and cooking in a comfortable setting that encourages exploration. He has implemented strategies to make meals more appealing, helping students expand their comfort zones and trying new dishes by having plated sample dishes on display.
We look forward to an exciting culinary journey this year and beyond!
