The Crucible: An Eagle Hill School Production

The EHS theater department has been hard at work for months bringing to life Arthur Miller's exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem. It is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of contemporary society. The story focuses on a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie—and it is here that the monstrous course of bigotry and deceit is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others.

To get in the full spirit of “The Crucible” the entire cast traveled to Salem, MA this fall where the students were able to fully submerge themselves in the history of the town. This allowed the actors to truly embody the characters they are set to play and immerse themselves in the rich culture of Salem.

This Tony Award-winning play was performed at the Archipley Cultural Center on January 27 through January 29, 2023.
