Another exciting season of sports at Eagle Hill School!

Spring athletics marks another exciting year of competition and growth at Eagle Hill School. Our Pioneers demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and Pioneer Spirit across the field, court, course, track, and water. From close championship finishes to emerging programs finding their stride, this season was defined by progress, energy, and a strong sense of community. Read on for the highlights of this year’s spring season:

Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse

This season was full of learning and improvement for girls’ lacrosse, and it was exciting to watch the team grow more confident and competitive as spring progressed. Throughout the season, the team demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and a real commitment to learning and improving while also having fun. Special recognition includes Ainsley R. ’28, Zoe B. ’28, Merrin A. ’28, Cam F. ’27, Mackie N. ’28, and Olivia J. ’28 for contributing goals throughout the season.

Team awards recognized not only talent, but heart and perseverance: Olivia J. received the Coaches Award for her dedication, positive attitude, and for never missing a practice or giving up during a game; Lorelei B. earned Most Improved for embracing a new level of play, working hard to learn the game, and never quitting; and Zoe B. received the Outstanding Team Contributor Award for being the heart of the midfield—constantly running, working hard on defense, and never quitting even during tough games. Girls’ varsity lacrosse coaches Liza Elkin and Kat Thompson are incredibly proud of these girls and how far they’ve come this year and are already looking forward to next season!

Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse

The spring 2026 season was a breakout season for Eagle Hill boys’ lacrosse. With a strong core returning from last year, the Pioneers fielded a fundamentally sound and connected team that hit the ground running from the onset. Captains Griffin O. ’26, Nick St. L. ’27, and Cole C. ’27, anchored the team and provided consistent poise and direction. The season began with a 14-13 OT loss to Chauncey Hall Chapel Hill, a team that in recent years had dominated Eagle Hill. While the loss was obviously disappointing, the grit and competitive nature of this Eagle Hill team was on full display, aand it was clear that these Pioneers were ready for the challenges of the season. Griffin O. worked tirelessly to improve his skills and consistently controlled face-offs to give Eagle Hill an offensive advantage. He routinely dominated the opposition and started the offense with countless fast-break opportunities that ignited an explosive offense. Cole C. and Henry H. ’28 poured in goals and the Pioneers went undefeated in regular season league play with an average margin of victory of +15. The defense was anchored by veterans Nick St. L. and Josh C. ’27, who kept opposing teams at bay. They were also supported by newcomers William D. ’28 and Braden R. ’28. 

Over the course of the regular season, Cole C. scored 47 goals, Henry H. had 42 and Griffin O. added 37. Griffin also achieved the milestone of 100 career goals during the semi-final game against the Dublin School. Eagle Hill hosted the championship game on May 13^th against Rocky Hill. Rocky Hill came out hungry and scored early. The Pioneers fought tooth and nail and stayed tough against a fired-up Rocky Hill team. Eagle Hill showed incredible resolve and determination and continued to claw their way back into the game. But ultimately, they were unable to overcome Rocky Hill's early momentum and lost 12-11. This was not the fairy tale ending that the Pioneers worked so hard for, but they fought with passion and were unified to the very end. Coaches Claudio Santoro, Griffin McDonald, and Turner Britz are incredibly proud of this team and its accomplishments.  

Across every team, our Pioneers competed with Honesty, Respect, Kindness, and Purpose—values that continue to guide how we train, compete, and grow together.

Ultimate ‘No Horns’ Team

The No Horns had an excellent season with a final record of 14-3. With 25 players on the team, many of them inexperienced, there was one large team rather than a varsity and a junior varsity. This plan allowed a mix of players depending on the experience of opponents. Adding Coach Rich Widmer to the team was a huge benefit as he brought his years of experience, drills, and approaches to the squad that was eager to learn. With so many new players, a lot was placed on their shoulders to take more command on the field, while also helping the rookies learn the game, strategies, and the spirit of ultimate game. It was a fun and enjoyable season full of growth, and coaches are looking forward to the next season already.

Varsity Tennis

The Eagle Hill tennis team had an outstanding season, marked by significant individual improvement, strong team camaraderie, and consistent enthusiasm both at home matches and during energetic away competitions. Favorable weather allowed for steady practices and matches, and the support of EHS staff was appreciated.  Many players started off with little knowledge of the game.  However, through their own practice and determination, ended up playing in matches.  At the SENE Championship, Hezzy B. took 2nd place in singles and coaches Cindy Coughlin and Kelsey Urbanetti could not have been more proud.

Varsity Golf

This year, we finished the season with an impressive record of 8 wins and 2 losses. Newcomers Dodge D. ’29 and Baer I. ’29 quickly became key contributors to the squad, stepping into the 3rd and 4th positions on the team, while captains, Teddy H. ’26 and Jackson W. ’26, led the way as 1st and 2nd seeded players.

Teddy and Jackson had exceptional seasons, with Teddy shooting under par in nearly every match for much of the year. Weather conditions were favorable throughout the season—until the SENE Tournament, where the team faced some of the toughest conditions imaginable.

Despite the rain, the Pioneers rose to the challenge, defeating many longtime rivals before ultimately finishing behind league newcomer Mt. St. Charles. Three of four players earned All-SENE honors with top-ten finishes, while a fourth golfer received Honorable Mention recognition.

This season also marks the farewell to our seniors: Teddy H., who will continue his golf career at Trinity, along with Jackson W. and Owen C. ’26. Their leadership, talent, and contributions have left a lasting impact on the program, and we wish them continued success in all that lies ahead.

Spring Rowing

The Pioneer rowing team wrapped up an exciting spring season defined by growth, resilience, and a strong team culture. This year, we fielded three competitive boats: two varsity fours and one novice four. Across all lineups, athletes demonstrated remarkable commitment and development throughout the season, embracing the technical challenges and teamwork that rowing demands.

One of the season’s highlights was the outstanding performance of Elly V. ’27, who stepped into the role of coxswain as a brand-new “fresh novice” and immediately took command of the first varsity boat. Coxing requires a unique combination of leadership, technical knowledge, race awareness, and communication, and Elly V. rose to the challenge with confidence and poise well beyond expectations.

This spring also reflected the strength of leadership within the program. Captain Asher I. ’27 provided exceptional mentorship to newer athletes, helping introduce them to the many intricacies of rowing—from boat handling and race preparation to technical execution on the water. Beyond training, all the varsity rowers set the standard for stewardship of equipment and for the care and respect that keeps a rowing program running smoothly. In the novice boat, fresh novice Harper C. ’27 led her boat as bow learning a brand-new sport and showing emerging leadership.

On the racecourse, Pioneer rowing delivered impressive performances and continued to establish itself as a competitive program. The team earned victories over Worcester Academy, Bancroft, and St. Mark’s, while also competing in tight races against Dublin and Lenox. 

As we close the spring season, we also recognize and celebrate our four graduating seniors. Their dedication, leadership, and contributions have helped shape the program and leave a strong foundation for those returning next year. Looking ahead to the fall season, we are excited to continue building momentum with an expanded focus on sculling and increased opportunities to race small boats. Pioneer Rowing—Pioneer Pride!

Spring Athletics 2026: A Season to Remember

As we close another memorable spring season, we celebrate not only athletic achievement, but also the character and community that define Eagle Hill Athletics.
