Exciting Courses Coming to Eagle Hill in 2025–2026
Eagle Hill School has announced its new lineup of courses for the 2025–2026 school year. Each year, the school introduces “New and Notable” classes to keep learning fresh, engaging, and relevant. This year’s additions are about encouraging creativity, exploring new ideas, and gaining a deeper understanding of the world around us.
In Unsolved Problems in Computer Science, students will tackle complex and challenging problems that do not have efficient solutions.
For those interested in social impact, Make a Difference offers an experience rooted in action. Building on the Social Construction of Identity course and community service program, this class explores the theory of social capital, examining how social ties, trust, and communal benefits drive change.
The English department is introducing a wide array of new offerings that span genres, formats, and cultures.
The English department is introducing a wide array of new offerings that span genres, formats, and cultures. In Crafting Digital Writing, students will explore the role of social media and digital content in contemporary communication. Meanwhile, Greco-Roman Drama students will dive into the foundational works of classical literature, studying ancient texts in conjunction with modern interpretations. For those drawn to suspense, Murder, Mystery, and the Detective Novel traces the evolution of crime. Students will read, analyze, and write their own detective stories. Additional new classes include Voices of Color, 1999: The Year That Changed Movies Forever, Our Search or Meaning: Spirituality Across Humanities, Video Game Analysis, Writing on Monsters, Ghosts, Freaks and Aliens, and Young Adult Literature.
The History department is offering two new courses this year. Discover Vietnam is a one-term class that gives students a closer look at the culture, geography, and modern-day life of Vietnam. In Learning History through Fiction, students will read historical fiction novels that bring important events and time periods to life rather than relying solely on textbooks.
In mathematics, the new Chess course is more than just gameplay. Students will learn strategy, pattern recognition, and critical thinking through the lens of this centuries-old game.
The Visual and Performing Arts department also brings new creative opportunities. Advanced Metal Work teaches students to build on foundational skills through independent projects in sculpting, casting, and silversmithing. Music Exploration introduces students to a variety of musical traditions, genres, and technologies, while Musical Theater Repertoire lets students take the stage, learning and performing iconic pieces from Broadway history.
With such a broad and exciting array of new courses, the 2025–2026 academic year will provide students with even more opportunities to explore their interests and develop new ones at Eagle Hill.
