Meet Dr. Sabrina Perez, Dean of Diversity, Inclusion, and Leadership

Creating an environment where difference is embraced and individuals flourish.

We’re officially halfway through the school year with our newly appointed Dean of Equity, Inclusion and Leadership. Let’s take a deeper look into the work of Dr. Sabrina Perez and learn more about her role as the first faculty member to hold this position at Eagle Hill School.  

Dr. Sabrina Perez was born in New Jersey and spent most of her youth between Texas and New England. In August of 2001, Dr. Perez enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a BS in Communication Studies—Corporate Communications in an impressive three years. She then attended the University of Texas—Pan American at night and graduated with a Masters in Guidance and Counseling in the summer of 2009. Years later, she was accepted into a PhD program at Texas State University for the Fall of 2018. She graduated with a PhD during the summer of 2022 in School Improvement—focusing on cultural competency and social justice.  

Prior to pursuing her master’s degree, Dr. Perez took a backwards gap year, having finished her bachelor’s degree a year early, taking time to explore what she would like to do as a career. That’s when she discovered that teaching was her true passion.  

Dr. Perez has worn many different hats throughout her sixteen years in public education, including positions of College and Career Counselor and Assistant Principal. While Dr. Perez was in the final stages of her dissertation work for her PhD, fortunately for us, she found Eagle Hill School. Dr. Perez arrived at Eagle Hill School in September of 2022 to helm the newly created role as Dean of Equity, Inclusion, and Leadership.   

Working with the entire Student Life team, Dr. Perez helps develop and cultivate programs, events, and professional development opportunities. These ensure that we continue to create a community that honors diversity, fosters equity, mutual respect, appreciation and embraces the needs of our students as a community and as individuals. She is very passionate about her work and clearly has a special place in her heart for students who have diverse learning profiles and for the New England area.   

When Dr. Perez is off campus, you can find her with her beautiful boxer Tilly who has become the unofficial mascot of Eagle Hill School. She also enjoys visiting her sister In Madrid, Spain and goes whenever she can. She thoroughly enjoys spending her free time reading books. Her current pile of must-read novels is up to twenty-two! Dr. Perez also enjoys the challenge of completing puzzles; one thousand or more pieces is her specialty. Although currently she is recovering from a running injury, she has a passion for half marathons and has completed eleven over the years. We are thrilled to have her as part of the Eagle Hill School family!
