Luminary Bags Light Up the Eagle Hill Campus

A stunning social and emotional learning (SEL) activity directed by Eagle Hill School faculty member Ms. Stephanie Whitaker took place on Monday, March 24th, as EHS students decorated luminary bags to proudly display on the Alsop Amphitheater. The purpose of these gorgeous creations was to bring awareness to the first anniversary of the pandemic as well as to promote community connectivity through thoughtful discussion. Students were asked to reflect on their experiences through the pandemic thus far and picture how life would be as things improve throughout the country.

Students were free to decorate their bags with anything they wished to write, whether it was the name of a lost loved one, hope for the future, a special memory, meaningful quotes or pictures, or a lesson learned this past year. This activity was paired with a powerful video shown to all participants titled “The Great Realization” by creator Tom Foolery. This post-pandemic poem captured the hearts of millions online and gives a thoughtful perspective of the world around us.

The video can be seen below.
