Eva Vegas presenting
Eagle Hill School

Leading with  Courage and Curiosity

Guest speaker Eva Vega inspires connection, courage, and empathy.

On Monday, November 3, Eagle Hill School welcomed guest speaker Eva Vega, founder of More Connected Humans, for an inspiring presentation. Drawing from her experiences as an educator, entrepreneur, and civil rights advocate with the Anti-Defamation League, Ms. Vega explored how identity, difference, and empathy shape the way we connect with others.

Throughout her talk, Ms. Vega invited students to actively participate—encouraging them to reflect on moments of fear, to consider what it means to treat others with dignity, and to recognize the power of everyday choices. She emphasized that leadership and belonging are not defined by titles or achievements, but by listening, speaking up for others, and stepping into discomfort when needed.

Ms. Vega also highlighted the science behind emotional awareness, explaining how our bodies respond to perceived threat and how that awareness can help us make more compassionate decisions. By understanding how fear and bias affect behavior, she encouraged students to approach others with curiosity rather than judgment.

“Humility is better than ego and always will be and moral courage is way better than being right.” – Eva Vega

Her message resonated deeply with Eagle Hill’s core values of honesty, respect, kindness, and purpose. Through stories of inclusion, resilience, and human connection, Ms. Vega reminded students that living with integrity and compassion requires courage—the courage to be genuine, to listen carefully, and to act with kindness even when it’s difficult.

The event concluded with a call to action: to recognize that leadership and change begin in the small, daily moments of connection. Ms. Vega inspired students to embrace curiosity, empathy, and moral courage, leaving the community with a renewed commitment to lead with purpose.
