Giving Back with Purpose

CORE students bring holiday cheer to Hardwick families.

Led by faculty member Shane Francoeur, Eagle Hill School’s CORE students (Gordon H., Maeve K., Jackson W., Maidee B., Zack D., Jessye K., and Sam R. from the class of 2026) have taken on a meaningful holiday initiative this season—purchasing and delivering gifts for children in Hardwick. Partnering with the Hardwick Elementary School, the group received a list of local students whose families have been facing financial challenges and might otherwise go without gifts this holiday season.

CORE students worked together to raise funds, set ambitious goals, and ultimately surpass their expectations, collecting over $1,500 thanks to the generosity of the Eagle Hill community.

CORE students worked together to raise funds, set ambitious goals, and ultimately surpass their expectations, collecting over $1,500 thanks to the generosity of the Eagle Hill community. These funds allowed them to not only fulfill each child’s wish list but also to purchase extra winter essentials such as coats, hats, and gloves for students in need.

Last week, Mr. Francoeur and the CORE students visited six local stores on a shopping trip filled with both purpose and joy. The wish lists they filled included simple, heartfelt requests such as Pokémon cards, Play-Doh, and hair care products—items that reflect the humble spirit of the season.

Earlier this week, the CORE team gathered in Mr. Francoeur’s office to wrap dozens of gifts before delivering them on Wednesday afternoon to Hardwick Elementary School. Their efforts brought happiness, relief, and holiday spirit to families throughout the community.

Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Francoeur shared that his students were “filled with joy at the thought of helping others,” recognizing how far-reaching an act of kindness can be. Their teamwork and compassion embody the generosity and community spirit that define Eagle Hill School—especially during the holiday season.

At its heart, this project reflects beautifully Eagle Hill’s CORE values of Honesty, Respect, Kindness, and Purpose. Through their dedication, empathy, and hard work, the students demonstrated what it means to live those values—showing honesty in their intentions, respect for others’ needs, kindness in every gesture, and a shared purpose that extends well beyond campus.
