Girls Leadership Launches into a New Year

Empowering students on campus to build connections, serve their community, and grow as leaders.

On Saturday, September 13, the Girls Leadership program kicked off the school year with a fun-packed opening day. Students began by introducing themselves, sharing personal goals for the year, and brainstorming community service projects—including reading to faculty children on campus. This year’s Girls Leadership members are especially focused on engaging with the immediate community in and around Hardwick, MA.

After the planning session, the group ventured off campus to a local thrift store, where they were challenged to find the silliest outfits. The day continued with dinner together, a tie-dye activity back on campus, and a cozy movie night featuring Practical Magic—a lively and energizing start to the new year.

On Tuesday, September 16, Girls Leadership gathered again in the Kresge Theatre for a dinner and dessert social joined by Head of School Erin Wynne. After icebreakers and sharing fun facts about their summers, the group played games such as “Hot Seat” to get to know each other even more. This gave new and prior returning the chance to help everyone feel welcome while also learning names and general facts about each student.

“The more you put into community, the more you get out.” The Girls Leadership program exemplifies this spirit, offering students a way to invest in their community in lasting and meaningful ways.

Looking ahead, Girls Leadership will host campus events, participate in community service, and lead fundraising initiatives, while also encouraging wider student involvement in projects across Eagle Hill. In October, the group will head to Vermont for their annual retreat, where students will collaborate on planning, shopping, and preparing for a dinner together. Additional highlights for the year include Holidaze, the Hot Chocolate Run, Recenter, Galentine’s Day, and other exciting opportunities to connect and serve.

Led by Finleigh Riendeau and Isabella Gentleman with the support of other faculty throughout campus, Girls Leadership provides students with opportunities to create meaningful connections and develop leadership skills that extend beyond the program into their academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, and dorm life.

Although “Girls” is in the name, Girls Leadership is an inclusive space for students of all genders who are looking to grow, serve, and find a purposeful community where they feel safe and supported.

At last week’s All-School Meeting, Head of School Erin Wynne shared: “The more you put into community, the more you get out.” The Girls Leadership program exemplifies this spirit, offering students a way to invest in their community in lasting and meaningful ways.
