Fall Family Weekend: A Celebration of Community and Connection
Families, students, and faculty come together for a memorable weekend filled with athletic victories, conferencing, a college fair, dining, and lively entertainment.
Eagle Hill School recently hosted its highly anticipated Fall Family Weekend, uniting students, parents, and faculty in a spirited celebration. The campus buzzed with excitement as families engaged in events throughout the weekend.
The festivities kicked off on Thursday with an exciting matchup as the Boys’ JV Soccer team took on Cushing Academy in a challenging battle, falling just short with a score of 1-2. Meanwhile, the Girls’ Volleyball team secured a victory over Chapel Hill, winning 2-1. Afterward, junior class parents attended an informative session with the College Counseling Office, and the entire community enjoyed an outdoor reception highlighted by a cozy fireside performance by Ken Leyva.
Friday began with conferences and a talk by Ned Johnson, author of The Self-Driven Child, who provided insights on promoting independence in children. A College Fair connected families with various colleges, universities, and alternative post-graduation programs. In the afternoon, families gathered for the Pioneer Tailgate, cheering the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team to victory against Dublin, 3-1. Friday concluded with a fun, competitive trivia night in the Abby Theatre, where families showcased their knowledge of pop culture and music.
Saturday morning kicked off with a breakfast buffet and continued conferences, followed by an exhilarating match in which the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team staged a stunning comeback against Marie Philip, winning 3-2 after trailing 0-2. Meanwhile, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played to a 3-3 draw against St. Andrews. Additionally, the Rowing team competed with five boats: the Boys’ Varsity finished in 2nd place, Novice Boys took 3rd, Mixed Varsity also placed 3rd, Mixed 2nd Varsity raced for time only, and Boys 2x secured 2nd place. Saturday ended on a high note with a community dinner, followed by an entertaining performance by Shake Rattle & Roll Dueling Pianos.
As the weekend concluded on Sunday, families gathered for Farewell Brunch in the Chapman dining commons before saying their goodbyes. Many thanks to everyone who attended Fall Family Weekend and made it truly special.
