Eagle Hill Fall Athletics Shine Across the Board

Eagle Hill School athletes delivered a season of grit, growth, and remarkable achievements across the fall sports lineup.

Rowing

The rowing team capped off an impressive season, highlighted by standout performances and high-level competition. Cooper G. earned the Outstanding Team Contributor Award this season. He consistently competed in two races per day, both sculling in his single and rowing in the Boys Varsity 4. At the New England Championship, Cooper was originally planned to row in the Boys 4, but on the morning of the event he was shifted into the single. He rose to the challenge and earned a medal in the Junior Division. Cooper also medaled at the Paper City Regatta in his single.

Asher I. received the Coaches’ Award. At the start of the season, he willingly transitioned from bow seat to coxswain—a role that requires strategy, leadership, and precise technical skill. At the Riverfront Regatta in Hartford, a member of the Second Varsity fell ill in the launch line. Even though Asher had just finished coxing First Varsity, he immediately stepped in and was on the water within five minutes, rowing an additional race so his teammates could compete.

Ben T. showed tremendous growth throughout the season, steadily improving his times and learning a new and demanding position: stroke. He successfully led and set the pace for the Boys Second Varsity 4.

Rowing maintained possession of the Wickaboag Cup, defeating Marianapolis Preparatory School at the Family Weekend Regatta.

Girls’ Varsity Volleyball

The Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Team reached new heights, winning seven games this 2025 season. Delivering one of its most successful seasons to date, they matched a program record with seven wins. Their success came from strong chemistry, fierce defense, and a positive spirit that made each match upbeat and full of Pioneer energy!

Coach Leyva reflects: “The Pioneers also played an exciting brand of volleyball. The team played with a relentless edge, and their tenacious, scrappy defense won numerous rallies throughout every match this Fall.”

Award winners included Elly V. (Outstanding Team Contributor), Olivia J. (Coaches’ Award), and Nora M. (Most Improved). The Pioneers also earned major SENE All-Conference honors: Elly V. and Olivia J. were named to the First Team, Gabby L. to the Second Team, and Claire L. received an Honorable Mention.

Cross Country

Eagle Hill’s cross-country team ran with determination all fall, culminating in a major victory as the boys captured the RVAL Championship in Charlemont with sophomore and Rookie of the Year, Hayden G., leading the pack.

Other standouts included Andrew A. (Outstanding Team Contributor), Zak E. (Most Improved, Boys), Zoe W. (Most Improved, Girls), Krew D. (Coaches’ Award, Boys), and Hope L. (Coaches’ Award, Girls).

JV Boys’ Soccer

The Pioneers finished the season with a record of three wins, eight losses, and two ties, maintaining a competitive edge in all but three games.

Sophomore John W. led the team, scoring eleven goals. Reid C., Kit J., Mohamed M., Jacob B., Paul O., Grant W., Aiden G.-L., and Myles T. also contributed to scoring for Eagle Hill. Matthew M. scored twice in the first game of the season against Bancroft before being promoted to the Varsity squad.

Freshman goalkeeper Konner N. was recognized as the Outstanding Team Contributor. Konner’s fearless play and ability to make challenging saves look routine marked him as the first true JV goalkeeper in many years and a significant factor in the program’s future.

Most Improved Awards went to Paul O. and Reid C. Paul became a full-time starter on defense, and Reid stepped in at defensive center midfield from day one. Coaches’ Awards were presented to captains Grant W. and Kit J., both returning players who demonstrated commitment, maturity, and leadership for the younger Pioneers. Grant anchored the defense at sweeper, and Kit played forward.

Sophomore Braden R. and eighth grader Piers G. became defensive starters and will be important for the next generation of Pioneers. Returning players Liam J. and Connor D. made key defensive contributions and showed improvement from the previous year. Freshman Harry N. brought continual energy and enthusiasm to the squad.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team showcased resilience throughout a competitive season that included a thrilling 4–3 comeback victory over Williams School after trailing 3–0 at halftime. The Pioneers finished with a 6–8 record and reached the SENE semifinals.

Team honors included James P. (Most Improved), Martin O. (Coaches’ Award), and Griffin O. (Outstanding Team Contributor). Griffin O. also led the way in league recognition, earning All-SENE First Team, NEPSAC Senior All-Star, and All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention status. He was joined on the All-SENE First Team by Hezzy B., while Carter C. and Patrick M. made the Second Team, and Martin O. received an Honorable Mention.

Girls Varsity Soccer

Though the final record was 2-11-1, the Pioneers’ story this fall was about remarkable growth and resilience. Many team members of Girls’ Varsity Soccer began the season with little or no soccer experience, but by year’s end, their coaches had watched these girls turn from shy, doubtful players to leaders and competitors on the field.

Merrin A., one of the team's veterans, delivered a standout performance, tallying twenty-seven of the squad’s thirty-three goals and assisting on the remainder. For her efforts, she earned SENE All-League First Team honors and was nominated for SENE Player of the Year.

In goal, Jayla M. led with exceptional skill and presence, averaging over twenty saves per game while directing the defense. For her crucial impact, she was named Outstanding Team Contributor.

Other award winners this year were Cori L. (Most Improved), Zella M. (Wrecking Ball), Maeve K. (Field Captain), Phoebe R. (Chasing Improvement), Rebecca S. (Boot It), and Mackenzie D. (Coach in Training). The team’s season concluded with an inspiring run to the RVAL championship against Putney, highlighted by their determination and progress on and off the field.

Coaches reflected how extraordinarily proud they are of the girls in their relentless willingness to fight through adversity and to continue improving as a team.

Across all fall teams, Eagle Hill athletes displayed growth, camaraderie, and pride while pushing their programs forward into another year of success.
