Eagle Hill School is proud to announce that Ethan Holmes, Class of 2009, has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Katherine Tai, within the Biden Administration. Working out of the White House, Holmes will help the agency that is responsible for developing and recommending United States trade policy to the President of the United States, conducting trade negotiations at bilateral and multilateral levels, and coordinating trade policy within the government through the interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee (TPSC) and Trade Policy Review Group (TPRG). The USTR is part of the Executive Office of the President, and has over 200 employees, with offices in Geneva, Switzerland, Brussels, and Belgium.

Holmes ‘09 previously served in the Office of Representative Ron Kind in a variety of positions, most recently as Economic Policy Advisor.  He holds a B.A. from DePaul University in philosophy, an MSc from the University of Edinburgh in International Political Theory, and an Executive Certificate from Harvard University’s Kennedy School on International Trade.

Holmes is one of Eagle Hill’s many rising alumni stars and his hard work and talent have taken him to the White House. We wish Ethan the best of luck and couldn’t be more proud!
