Wrestling and Basketball go “Back-to-back (to back)!”
On May 2, the student body and faculty of Eagle Hill gathered on the Logan Family Court in the Baglio Center to honor the varsity boys’ basketball and wrestling teams—Eagle Hill’s most recent championship-winning squads.
The 2022-23 boys’ basketball team earned its third consecutive RVAL Championship. Head Coach Jeff Myra gave a heartfelt speech thanking his team and seniors, stating, “We were a young team starting the season with few returning players, but once the season got underway, I knew we had something special.” To repeat past years’ success with a young and relatively inexperienced roster was no small task.
Wrestling, too, found themselves in a winning position again this year. Coach Ian Kelly spoke on behalf of the wrestling team and their second straight league title. He beamed about his team’s stellar season and talked about the other measures of success he witnessed during the past several months—camaraderie, dedication, and grit. He stated, “The way I measure success is the growth of the individual, the relationships that we formed, and the support you showed to all of your teammates.”
Both teams embody the values and determination that Eagle Hill loves to see in all of its students.
Congratulations to the champions on behalf of the faculty and staff of EHS!
