The Eagle Hill School Summer Session: An Academic Summer Program

Capture the joy of learning this July at Eagle Hill School.

Choosing the right summer experience can make a meaningful difference in a student’s confidence, academic growth, and readiness for the school year ahead. The Eagle Hill School Summer Session, located in Hardwick, Massachusetts, offers an academic summer program for diverse learners ages 12–16, who are for bright, motivated and benefit from individualized instruction and in a structured, encouraging environment.

During the month of July, Eagle Hill’s four‑week Summer Session, held from July 6 to July 31, combines the excitement of a classic summer camp with the school’s unique approach to educating students with diverse learning profiles. Courses and activities are intentionally designed to help students enjoy a fun-filled summer while building confidence and setting the stage for academic success in the fall.

A Summer Session Designed for the Whole Child

The Eagle Hill School Summer Session provides mindful academic enrichment and skill development for students who want to strengthen specific skills, improve executive functioning, or maintain progress made during the previous school year. Academic classes, enrichment courses, and sports are thoughtfully combined to support the needs of the whole child in a warm, camp-like atmosphere.

This success-oriented environment gives students the opportunity to flourish—academically, socially, and personally—while feeling supported every step of the way.

Individualized Academics in a Supportive Setting

Each weekday schedule is divided into eight periods, including four academic classes that focus on reading, writing, and math, along with three enrichment courses and daily swimming. Class sizes are intentionally small, with an average 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful teacher-student connections.

Schedules are tailored to each student’s skill level and learning profile, ensuring students are placed in an environment where they can feel confident, engaged, and successful.

Families can learn more about daily schedules, courses, and program details on our Summer Session page.

New Student Orientation: A Confident Start to the School Year

For students beginning their first year at Eagle Hill School in the fall, New Student Orientation offers a welcoming and supportive introduction to campus life. Students take academic and enrichment classes with their future teachers while gaining insight into daily routines and residential life.

Orientation-only social activities, planned by Eagle Hill’s Student Life team, help students form friendships and begin building a sense of belonging—making the transition into the academic year smooth and confident.

Leaders in Training: Building Skills That Last

The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program is designed for rising juniors and seniors who are ready to take on responsibility and continue developing leadership skills. Through workshops, community service projects, off-campus experiences, and supervised opportunities to assist younger students, participants grow as leaders and role models.

The LIT program transforms summer into a time of personal growth, helping students develop confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Life Beyond the Classroom

Summer at Eagle Hill extends well beyond academics. Afternoons, evenings, and weekends are filled with clubs, activities, and trips that encourage connection, exploration, and fun. From creative and athletic activities on campus to weekend adventures throughout New England, students build friendships and lasting memories while enjoying a true summer experience.

What is Learning Diversity About?

Learning Diversity is a blog hosted by Eagle Hill School where educators, students, and other members of the LD community regularly contribute posts and critical essays about learning and living in spaces that privilege the inevitability of human diversity.

The contributors of Learning Diversity come together to engage our readers from a variety of disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, biological sciences and mathematics, athletics, and residential life. Embracing learning diversity means understanding and respecting our students as whole persons.
